We all leave Rome this morning. Peter is off to Vienna to meet with local survivors and hopefully get the SNAP support group up and running there. Joelle and I will head to London to help start a group there. Joelle has experience riding the “tube” so I am going to relax and follow her everywhere.
This has already been an exciting journey and we are only half way through our trip. I’ve been thinking a lot about all of the amazing survivors in the United States as we reach out to survivors across Europe. While it is so sad that we were all abused I am finding it invigorating to connect with other survivors. While we come from such different cultures and speak different languages we share so much in common. We all know the horror, the guilt and shame, the silence and secrecy that bound us up for so many years. As we find each other we are finding consolation, healing and hope.
I know I said this before but I am feeling it again. I am humbled by this opportunity that I have to be on this journey and I am so grateful to survivors everywhere. Survivors are the most generous and kind people in the world. Thank you to all survivors who risk and connect with each other and thanks to all who support us and enable us to do it!
We appreciate all your feedback and support. We’re doing all we can to maximize this moment for our movement. Thank you!
